A dictation app hears everything you say, so trusting one shouldn't come down to a promise in a policy. Dictio is designed so your voice never reaches us in the first place. Here's the whole story, in plain language.
When you dictate, your audio goes from your device straight to OpenAI, signed with your own API key. We are not a stop along the way. No relay, no cache, no copy for us.
Nothing. There is no account to sign into and the app sends nothing home. We don't know what you said, when you said it, or how often you use Dictio. We can't read your dictations for the same reason a courier can't read a letter that was never handed to them.
Store your audio. Share it. Sell it. Train anything on it. This isn't restraint, it's architecture: you can't leak what you never receive. If our servers were breached tomorrow, your dictations wouldn't be there to steal.
History and transcripts live on your device, for your eyes only. Play them back, search them, or delete any of them whenever you like.
Stored in your device's system keychain, the same protected store your passwords live in. Never written to a plain file, never sent to us.
Because the key is yours, you can set spending limits, rotate it, or revoke it at any time, from your side, without asking us.
Every line below holds because of how Dictio is built, not because a policy says so.
Transcription runs on OpenAI's API under your own account and OpenAI's API terms, which state that API data is not used to train their models. Your usage, your limits, your relationship. We're not in the middle of it, and that's the point.
No. Your audio never reaches us, so there is nothing for anyone here to hear.
No telemetry, no analytics, no tracking. The app talks to OpenAI with your key, and to no one else.
Your local history is deleted with the app data, and your key stays safe in your keychain until you remove it. Nothing exists on our side to clean up.
